Prolon: 5 Day- Fast Mimicking Diet

The 5 Day Fasting Mimicking Diet™, or FMD, is the first meal program made of healthy natural ingredients that is consumed for five days – but is not recognized in cellular pathways as food. This keeps the body in a fasting mode. In simple terms, it is fasting with food!

How should Prolon be used?

The diet should be used for 5 consecutive days per month (30 days) after which the patient will transition for 1 day and then resume their normal diet. Instructions are provided in every carton. A specific combination of food is provided on each day for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. All food provided on a specific day should be taken on that day only. While a meal missed can be made up at any time during the same day, there should be no carryover from one day to the next. The 5-day diet should be taken as often as is recommended by the healthcare professional.

How much weight will one lose on Prolon?

The amount of weight loss varies by individual. A healthcare professional will be able to discuss this during consultation and work with the patient on meeting weight goals.

How many cycles of Prolon are recommended?

The ProLon clinical trials protocol included three consecutive cycles of ProLon (5-day only per month over three consecutive months). It is up to the practitioner to decide the best protocol that he or or she would like to use for each patient. We suggest that for patients who are obese or overweight, they use ProLon for one three cycle protocol, and recommend that you as their doctor check in with patient to re-assess and determine if they have met their goals or if more cylces would be helpful. If a patient is not overweight and eats and exercises well, we suggest the product 1-2 times a year

What is the Transition Diet after the Prolon Fast?

On Day 6, after the ProLon® diet ends, users should avoid binge eating and resume their normal diet gradually. They should start with liquid foods, such as soups and fruit juices, followed by light meals, including rice, pasta and small portions of meat, fish and/or legumes. A normal diet can be resumed on day 7, or 24 hours after the end of the ProLon® diet.
