About Dr. Thornton

Board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Management. 

Dr. Thornton graduated summa cum laude from Texas Christian University, while active in her sorority Chi Omega. She completed her medical education at UT Southwestern Medical School. Following a transitional internship at Methodist Medical Center in Dallas, she accompanied her husband of 26 years to Marine Corps Base Kaneohe in Kailua, Hawaii. There she completed additional medical training at the John A. Burns School of Medicine in Honolulu. She attended a year of law school at the University of Hawaii, making Law Review, before returning to Dallas to complete her residency in Anesthesiology and Pain Management at UT Southwestern. Her husband James is a board certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at UT Southwestern. They have six children. Currently, one is in medical school, two are in college, and three are enrolled at HPISD. Dr. Thornton is passionate about nutrition, a subject minimally glossed over in medical school. She is extremely active in CrossFIt Health, a global movement to bring functional movement and good nutrition to even the most self-described non-athletes. In addition to her duties at Body Lounge Park Cities, she administers anesthesia for orthopedic sports injuries and orthopedic spine surgeries at Baylor Trophy Club and anesthesia for Mohs reconstruction at Baylor Denton Surgicare. She believes that a healthy diet is the foundation for good health and is eager to help people change their eating habits for life. She views weight loss through healthful eating as our best hedge against many chronic diseases including hypertension, diabetes, gastroesophageal reflux disease, cancer, alzheimer’s disease, thyroid dysfunction, and joint inflammation.
