Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau are the quickest and most effective ways to treat unwanted wrinkles. As we age, everything starts to sag as we lose skin elasticity and collagen. Things such as sun exposure, hormones, genetics, diet, and aging in general are all cotributors. The result? Skin that looks tired, stressed, and older than your age. That’s where Botox comes in!
Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau, also called neuromodulators or neurotoxins. They intentionally stop the nerve signals that tell your muscles to contract. This temporary blocking of muscle contractions is what actually smooths and eliminates fine lines and wrinkles.
We oftn hear: ‘I want to still have expression”. “I don’t want to look frozen or mad all the time”. “I don’t want to look like a different person”. And the list goes on. Let me answer some questions that are all too common when it comes to Botox.
Does Botox Prevent Wrinkles?
Yes, Yes, Yes! Botox along with other neuromodulators can help soften and erase wrinkles in any area that it’s injected into. It literally temporarily paralyzes the muscles so that they cannot contract to make the lines and wrinkles.
So many younger people are seeing the aging process and are trying to be preventative. They start before they see any wrinkles in order to stop them from ever forming at all. Prevention is always easier and less costly than correction.
Will Botox Give Me Frozen Face?
Botox is cosmetically designed to soften the excessive facial motions created when squinting, frowning, or smiling. It does paralyze the muscle but it does not affect the nerves, so you will still have all feeling. However Botox is not meant to remove all facial expressions. With a good injector, and done proprly your Botox should look natural.
Why Do I Often See People with “Unflattering” Results?
Simple. When done improperly, you could potentially get a “Spock” eyebrow that looks like an unnatural lift to the brow. Or, if too much is injected, you can get “heavy” where your eyebrows drops and looks like someone is pushing your eyebrows down towards your eyes. That’s why it’s important to be injected by an experienced and certified injector that knows the facial anatomy. But also one who has a creative eye and how to read the indiviual expressions on their patient to know where and how much is needed in each area.
Does Botox Hurt?
This really depends on the person. Everyone’s pain tolerance is different. Some areas are a little more tender than others. I would say most patients say it’s like little pinches that may be mildly uncomfortable if even that.
Does Botox Have Side Effects?
Of course! Just like almost every medical treatment out there. Immediately after the injections, you may have small bumps (they look like mosquito bites) but they dissipate in about 10-15 minutes. Though Botox can often help those who have chronic headaches, it is not uncommon to get a headache after injections. Further side effects are rare and usually limited to the site of injection. Some examples woud be inflammation or bruising (can last 1 to 7 days).
How Much Does Botox Cost?
Not all faces are created equal. It always depends on how much movement you have and how strong your muscles are. Men typically need a significant amount more because their muscles are usually stronger than women’s. Some people just have larger foreheads. And yes, that’s a thing. So the number of units differs. We charge $12/ unit for Botox so a rough average is around $200-$250 per area.
What is the Ideal Age to Start Getting Injections?
Some of you get Botox before you have wrinkles for prevention. Some of you never noticed and then one ay at age 40 you notice them and need them gone ASAP!
We have seen women in their 40’s with very few wrinkles and only need a few units of Botox and we have seen women in their early 20’s with lots of wrinkles and need a heavier dose.
The ideal age to start getting Botox is when you feel like you are ready for them!
How Long Does Botox Last?
This is different for everyone but typically Botox and Xeomin last for approximately 3 to 4 months, while Dysport can last 4 to 6 months. The longevity of your results is largely dependent on the age, your metabolism, & amount of exercise you do regularly. For example, someone who is young with a fast metabolism and more blood flow to the face will most likely burn through the product quicker than someone who is older.
Why Doesn’t Botox Work Immediately?
Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin results are NOT immediate. It takes several days for the muscles to respond, however your final result takes 2 weeks. A lot of people get worried a full day after because they see no results. But be patient! If you feel like an eyebrow is uneven or you need more units after the 14 days have passed, we can touch it up. We cannot touch it up anytime before 2 weeks since the product could still be kicking in, and we don’t want to give you too much.
Will People Know I Got Botox?
Do you “kiss-and-tell”? Good Botox will be natural-looking, you’ll look refreshed and probably even younger looking. If you injector is good, people will often notice you look better but don’t know why. So unless you tell… chances are, no one will ever know you got it.
What’s My Post Care After Botox?
You can’t workout for 24 hours after Botox. You don’t want to metabolize the product in your newest investment…Your Face. You cannot lay down for 4 hours after the appointment so the product doesn’t migrate. Results typically start to show in just a few days. However it usually takes about 2 weeks to fully kick in. So don’t wait until the last minute to book.
